Grade level: Secondary 4 by Ji Heng Student readiness level: Mixed Abilities The simulation is based on: Learning the opening verse of "Anak Haram," a traditional Dikir Barat piece, focusing on mastering the four foundational lines: "Di mana hendak ku serahkan / Dengarlah jeritan batinku / Di masa kecil aku dibuang / Di mana ayah dan juga ibu" with proper pronunciation, melodic delivery, and coordination with the traditional rebana rhythm pattern: T TTK TKT TKT. Known elements include: Four specific lyrical lines with Malay pronunciation Traditional Dikir Barat melodic patterns Rebana rhythm pattern: T TTK TKT TKT (T = Tak, K = Kah) Vocal delivery techniques and phrasing Coordination between singing and percussion Cultural context of the opening verse The objective of the simulation is to: Allow students to master the pronunciation and delivery of the opening verse, understand how vocals coordinate with rebana rhythms in Dikir Barat, develop skills in maintaining steady rhythm while singing, and appreciate the integrated nature of voice and percussion in traditional Malaysian musical performance. While using the simulation, students should experience: Listening to the rebana rhythm pattern in isolation, practising the T TTK TKT TKT pattern on virtual rebana, learning each vocal line with phonetic guidance, coordinating singing with the rebana rhythm, building fluency through layered practice (rhythm only, vocals only, then combined), recording attempts with both vocal and percussion elements, adjusting timing to maintain synchronisation, and gradually building confidence in performing the complete integrated piece with proper flow and cultural authenticity. The interface should include: Virtual rebana with visual rhythm notation showing T TTK TKT TKT pattern, line-by-line lyric display with phonetic pronunciation guides, dual-track audio playback for vocals and percussion separately or combined, recording feature capturing both vocal and rhythm attempts, rhythm practice mode with visual beat indicators, coordination trainer showing when vocals align with specific drum beats, tempo adjustment slider for learning at different speeds, cultural context panel explaining rebana's role in Dikir Barat, progress tracker showing mastery of vocals, rhythm, and coordination, metronome with traditional Dikir Barat timing, and performance mode combining all elements for complete practice experience.
