About this Simulation

This interactive 3D simulation models how light from a source creates shadows when it encounters an object and reaches a screen. Learners can manipulate the light source position, switch between cube and sphere objects, adjust screen distance, and observe how shadow size and shape change in real time, deepening understanding of light propagation and geometric optics.

Learning objectives: Understand how light sources, objects, and screens interact to form shadows | Investigate how light position and distance affect shadow size and shape | Explore the geometric principles of light ray projection in three dimensions
