About this Simulation

This interactive simulation models the turning effects of forces and the conditions for rotational equilibrium. Learners adjust masses and distances on either side of a pivot point, observing how the system responds in real-time. By experimenting with different configurations, students develop intuition about moments, torque, and the principle of balancing.

Learning objectives: Understand how distance and force combine to produce turning effects | Discover the conditions required for a system to remain in rotational equilibrium | Apply the principle of moments to predict and verify balance in physical systems
